Spanish transportation company Alsa has made a significant investment in Ariema, a hydrogen solutions provider, marking its strong commitment to alternative energy.
With the rapid growth expected in the production of green hydrogen, Alsa recognizes the need for substantial financial resources from both the public and private sectors to support the development of companies, infrastructure, and trade associated with hydrogen.
Alsa has already ventured into hydrogen-powered buses in Spain, and this new partnership with Ariema will leverage the latter’s expertise in hydrogen solutions. By joining forces with Ariema, Alsa gains access to advanced R&D projects, deployment initiatives, and preferential access to Ariema’s proprietary electrolysis technology, which enables the production of hydrogen using renewable energy sources.
Founded over two decades ago, Ariema specializes in providing consultancy services, specialized training, and manufacturing electrolysers for hydrogen production. Currently, the company is engaged in nine R&D projects aimed at improving the performance and scaling up the power of its electrolysers to a megawatt scale.
The investment from Alsa and Renta 4 will bolster Ariema’s resources and support the financing of its R&D activities, including the establishment of a new electrolyser factory. This strategic partnership will also drive the growth of Ariema’s consultancy and training services while facilitating its ongoing internationalization efforts.
The collaboration between Alsa and Ariema reflects a shared vision to advance the utilization of hydrogen as a clean energy source in Spain. By combining Alsa’s expertise in transportation and Ariema’s technological capabilities, the partnership aims to contribute to the widespread adoption of hydrogen across various sectors, fostering sustainability and decarbonization.
