The installation of the first hydrogen system for the Tyrolean grocer MPreis in Völs is on schedule. The project is expected to be completed and commissioned in the autumn of 2021.
The 130-tonne special tanks required for this purpose are delivered and will be used for intermediate storage of green hydrogen later. With the Hopfgartner apparatus manufacturer APL, a Tyrolean company processed the order. “We are delighted that we were able to contribute our expertise to this Tyrolean pioneering project,” says APL Managing Director Markus Widner. The total value of the order is around 450,000 euros.
The ultra-modern facility will cost MPreis around 13 million euros to build. In the first instance, this will provide heat to the Therese Mölk bakery’s ovens. Following that, the entire truck fleet of around 40 vehicles will be converted from MPreis to green hydrogen-powered trucks.
Over the past 50 years, APL has grown into a leading specialist in component construction for CO2 reduction systems as part of the Tiroler Pletzer Group’s industrial division. APL employs approximately 100 people at its two manufacturing locations in Hopfgarten and Dormagen, both in North Rhine-Westphalia, and recently reported sales of 22 million euros. The export quota is more than 75%.
