According to Nabil Nuaim, a chief digital officer of Saudi Aramco, the transition to low-carbon alternatives, such as green and blue hydrogen, requires significant investments and a market that requires international cooperation.
Nuaim stated that Saudi Aramco must optimize the projects and make them cost-effective while appearing at a virtual conference at the MEA Energy Week.
He also mentioned that green hydrogen energy production is still in the acceptance stage.
Nuaim also emphasized the importance of digital transformation in enabling a hydrogen economy, where Aramco will provide and serve as a source of fuel.
“The importance of hydrogen to the energy industry is enormous. It is an excellent source of energy. In the transportation industry, it has a high energy value, he added.
Additionally, Nuaim stated that Aramco is examining possibilities to lower the cost of hydrogen production and transportation and is determining if the company’s pipes and infrastructure are enough for the long term.
“We are working with blue hydrogen with extremely particular goals,” he continued. Fuel transportation is crucial, and safety must be examined and guaranteed.
