In the US, Cummins will start manufacturing electrolyzers. Production of electrolyzers will begin in Fridley, Minnesota, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 500 megawatts (MW), and it will eventually be scalable to 1 gigawatt (GW). Producing electrolyzers will take up 89,000 square feet of Cummins’ current Fridley factory. The plant will first produce its proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, the HyLYZER-500 and HyLYZER-5000, with the possibility of producing other electrolyzer products in the future. The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has given Veer Corporation its “Approval in Principle” (AiP) for its project to construct the first fleet of ocean-going container ships that are completely clean.
