Ricardo has received funding from the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) for two rail-related transportation innovation projects. Ricardo will compare battery and hydrogen trains, as well as look into possible energy efficiency measures around train stations, with the help of partners. Together with Scottish Power, Network Rail, and the University of Leeds, Ricardo was able to secure funding. The team will compare battery and hydrogen trains for future introduction on rural Scottish railway lines as part of the Holistic Hydrogen Approach to Heavy Duty Transport (H2H) study. The findings will be used to create a feasibility study and, possibly, a demonstration…

The Scoping Study for the planned HyEnergy green hydrogen development in Western Australia has been completed by Province Resources and Total Eren. Upon completion of the Scoping Study, the project can now move into the next phase of development. A high capacity factor and efficient use of the electrolyser were found to be possible due to the favorable wind and solar resource conditions in the Gascoyne region, according to the Scoping Study. The Scoping Study identified the need for solar arrays, wind turbines, transmission lines, electrical infrastructure, road construction, electrolysers, batteries, hydrogen storage facilities, and administration buildings. After signing a…

As part of a state-funded fuel cell research project, Faurecia, a FORVIA subsidiary, will provide MAN’s Bavarianflotte (Bavarian fleet) heavy-duty truck fleet with complete hydrogen storage systems. In this project, Faurecia will develop and seek certification for a new size of tank perfectly adapted to meet the requirements of heavy-duty vehicles and other applications with intensive use cases, backed by about 7 million euros in funding from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Because of its size and ability to store more hydrogen, an extra-large system like this one can travel farther between fill-ups. Augsburg’s R&D…

The £3.3 million investment by HydrogenOne in Gen2 Energy is part of a round expected to raise at least NOK140 million. Gen2 shareholders must also give their approval before Gen2 can invest in the company.HydrogenOne has bought a small amount of stock in Gen2. This gives them a seat on the Gen2 board and the chance to invest in Gen2’s projects. Gen2 was founded in 2019 with the goal of making green hydrogen at a large scale by connecting to the abundant and cheap renewable power that is being made in the region. Hydroelectric power, which makes up the majority…

Honeywell has come up with a new technology for making green hydrogen that will be tested with electrolyzer manufacturers. This technology is called catalyst-coated membranes (CCMs). The technology is based on CCMs for proton exchange membrane and anion exchange membrane electrolyzers, which use them. The company’s new CCMs have been shown in lab tests to make electrolyzers more efficient and more electric current dense, thanks to a new high ionic conductivity membrane and a high-activity catalyst. This is expected to cut the cost of the electrolyzer stack by 25%, based on a PEM water electrolysis system that uses renewable power…
