TECO2030 and Norwegian energy company Narvik Hydrogen have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on relevant projects with the goal of developing a complete hydrogen value chain. The two parties will discover, evaluate, and participate in relevant projects as part of the agreement. Narvik Hydrogen will provide green hydrogen to be used as fuel for the fuel cells developed by TECO2030 for the projects on which they decide to collaborate. Hydrogen fuel cells, which convert hydrogen into electricity while emitting only water vapour and warm air, are the engines of the future. Green hydrogen is hydrogen that is created…
It’s possible that a new material developed by UIC fuel cell engineers could give fuel cell vehicles an advantage over the batteries that power most current electric vehicles. Instead of relying on lithium batteries, fuel cells use catalyst-driven chemical reactions to generate energy. However, the high cost of cathode materials and manufacturing means that lithium batteries can only travel 100-300 miles on a single charge and must be recharged for several hours. To achieve more than 400 miles on a single charge, fuel cell systems can take advantage of abundant elements like oxygen and hydrogen, which can be done within…
Macquarie Group Limited (Macquarie) has announced plans to support the delivery of over £12 billion in sustainable infrastructure investment across the UK. Macquarie will invest directly, mobilize co-investment, and support major investments through portfolio companies’ capital expenditure programs to help communities meet their needs for smart, sustainable infrastructure that is aligned with the UK’s net zero goals. This is in addition to Macquarie’s long-standing commitment to the United Kingdom, where it has invested and operated since 1989. Macquarie has invested and arranged more than £50 billion in essential infrastructure across the UK over the last 15 years. Macquarie’s activities will…
As a first step toward a large-scale roll-out of a clean hydrogen economy, a group of nine partners has joined forces to promote clean hydrogen innovation, demonstration, and knowledge sharing in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The EMR H2 Booster consortium’s working area includes Dutch and Flemish Limburg, the Aachen region, and Liège. The project partners hope to accelerate the emergence of a hydrogen economy in the area through cross-border cooperation at this level. The Maastricht Provincial House hosted the consortium’s kick-off event today. The consortium consists of regional development agencies, hydrogen cluster organizations, and a knowledge institute, bringing together extensive hydrogen…
ProNova Energy, a joint venture between Ad Astra Rocket Company and Mesoamerica, aims to promote the use of hydrogen in Latin America. The region’s significant renewable energy capabilities make it one of the best places in the world to create green hydrogen, making Latin America the next hotspot for hydrogen innovation and production. There is a huge market for hydrogen in Latin America, which the Ad Astra Rocket Company and Mesoamerica have identified and are actively seeking to expand. Mesoamerica’s extensive experience in arranging and financing energy projects in Latin America is an ideal match for ProNova Energy, which has…
UK’s aerospace technology research program, the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), will receive record levels of government funding, advancing research and development of green aviation technology. For the financial years 2022-2023 through 2024-2025, the ATI will receive £685 million from the government, an increase of £235 million over the previous three-year period. Industry will contribute co-funding, bringing the total investment to over £1 billion. The funds will be used to build on the UK’s world-class research and development system to support the development of zero-carbon and ultra-low-emission aircraft technology, securing the UK’s position at the forefront of green technology advancement while…
Raven SR plans to build a waste-to-hydrogen production facility in Aragón, Spain. From 75 tons of organic solid waste per day, the Raven SR project in Aragón will produce 1,600 metric tons of renewable hydrogen per year. Raven SR intends to start work on the modular project in 2023. Raven SR’s non-combustion technology reduces waste and emissions while producing a clean, renewable fuel. Raven SR is a member of the Hy2Market and European Consortium Pilot Action, which is part of the I3 Interregional Innovation Investment Funding Instrument, and aims to support the commercialization and scaling up of interregional European innovation…
Hyundai Motor Group has agreed to collaborate with Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to research and develop an advanced fuel for an ultra lean-burn, spark-ignition engine with the goal of reducing a vehicle’s overall carbon dioxide emissions. During its transition to battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor Group is conducting various R&D activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles (FCEV). e-fuels, unlike traditional fuels, are made from green hydrogen (produced by water electrolysis with renewable electricity) and carbon dioxide, resulting in…
JW Filshill has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ScottishPower to investigate the possibility of powering its fleet with green hydrogen and electrification. JW Filshill’s fleet is present in hundreds of communities across the country, serving over 1,400 delivered goods customers, including over 210 Keystore convenience stores across Scotland and the north of England. The wholesaler could save an estimated 1,100 tonnes of CO2 per year by switching to green hydrogen and renewable electricity where possible. Green hydrogen is the only carbon-free method of hydrogen production. The electricity required to power an electrolyser, which separates water into oxygen and hydrogen,…
HFI Energy Systems Limited (HESL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydrogen Future Industries, has been formed to develop proprietary wind and water-based hydrogen production systems with hydrogen compression and storage. HESL’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Blake, has been named to lead this initiative. Blake has extensive experience developing efficient turbine systems, which he has specialized in for the past 12 years and for which he has written multiple patents. The goal is for the company and HESL, led by Blake, to develop systems that can provide on-demand energy storage in the form of hydrogen at a fraction of the cost…
