Hyzon Motors has signed a deal with the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) to produce zero-emissions hydrogen-powered tilt-tray trucks for its subsidiary, the Nationwide Group, in Melbourne. Australia’s new purpose-built headquarters are located in Noble Park and include the company’s new corporate offices, as well as an assembly warehousing facility and service workshop. By 2025, more than 100 local engineering and manufacturing jobs are expected to be generated by the facility. RACV-owned subsidiary Nationwide Group has placed a first order for three hydrogen-powered Hyzon HyMax TT7 tilt-tray trucks through the partnership, making it the first time an Australian towing…

Hydrogen has been designated as a future energy source by the US federal government. Using hydrogen generated by wind and solar power, industries such as steelmakers will be supplied over the next few decades. As part of this effort, the country’s reliance on foreign energy sources should be reduced. Federal officials say hydrogen will play a major role in the aviation industry as well. As the number of flights continues to rise, airlines are aiming to reduce their CO2 emissions by at least half by the year 2050. Bio-kerosene research is a priority for the companies, but hydrogen is also…
“The forefront of an energy transition wave” in the United States is what Andres Fernandez sees as a tremendous opportunity for WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, to guide its Energy clients through. Since joining the firm in 2017, Fernandez has been in charge of helping clients achieve their environmental, social, and governance goals by reducing carbon emissions and promoting new energy sources. He will now lead the firm’s efforts to shape the hydrogen economy. Prior to this, he worked as a vice president for major energy projects at WSP, where he supported project managers in the…
The Egyptian government has given Scatec and its partners permission to investigate the possibility of temporarily procuring electricity from the grid for an upcoming green hydrogen plant in Egypt. Scatec and its partners, Orascom and The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), requested that the Egyptian Cabinet approve their request to expedite the project’s implementation ahead of the COP 27 summit that will be held in Egypt in November. In the early stages of the project, the partners intend to draw power from the grid until they have built their own renewable energy capacity. When their green power plant goes online,…
Employees at Moscow State University’s Faculty of Chemistry have improved the reaction of magnesium hydride with water, paving the way for the generation of hydrogen for use in fuel cells. The addition of alkali metal, ammonium, and/or magnesium salts increases hydrogen yield from 22% to nearly 100%, while the hydrogen flow rate increases eightfold, according to the study’s authors. Compact low-power fuel cells, such as chargers for electronics or power supply systems for consumers in remote and isolated locations, are powered by autonomous hydrogen sources. The interaction of a light metal (aluminum or magnesium) or its hydride with water is…
As it strives to achieve net-zero operational emissions by 2030, Quorn will investigate how green hydrogen technology could aid in decarbonizing its manufacturing operations. The company announced a collaboration with Protium, a UK-based hydrogen production and services company, to see if using dual-fuel boilers for heating processes at Quorn’s Billingham factory could reduce emissions and energy costs. The boilers will be able to run on natural gas, as well as pure hydrogen and hydrogen blends, which are currently used at the factory. Protium will supply hydrogen to Quorn’s Belasis factory as part of the partnership. It hopes to supply hydrogen…
By 2030, RWE wants to expand its core green business. The company intends to invest roughly 15 billion euros in offshore and onshore wind, solar, batteries, flexible backup capacities, and hydrogen in Germany alone. For North Rhine-Westphalia, this translates to 1,000 MW of renewables, 2,000 MW of flexible and hydrogen-compatible backup capacity, 700 MW of green hydrogen electrolyser capacity, and active structural change support over the next eight years: RWE wants to help North Rhine-Westphalia transform its industrial state with a comprehensive package of measures. RWE intends to build renewable energy projects in North Rhine-Westphalia with a capacity of 1,000…
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) for partnership (RfP) for hydrogen development. BHEL seeks responses from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of electrolyser systems for hydrogen production who meet the requirements of this RfP and are willing to collaborate with BHEL on a long-term basis through a License & Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA).This will allow BHEL to design, engineer, manufacture, assemble, install, commission, quality control, test, supply, maintain, operate, repair, service, troubleshoot, and sell Hydrogen Production Electrolyser Systems. The term “electrolyser system” refers to the electrolyser stack and its necessary BOPs for producing fuel cell grade…
With the signing of an MOU, Octopus Hydrogen and BayWa r.e. plan to work together on green hydrogen production facilities at renewable project sites throughout the UK. Octopus Hydrogen will install electrolysers, compression, and mobile hydrogen storage at selected BayWa r.e. solar and wind projects as part of the strategic partnership. BayWa r.e. project pipeline in the UK has identified initial projects that have the potential to produce up to 6,500kg/day of green hydrogen, with first deliveries anticipated next year. Providing a complete end-to-end hydrogen supply solution as well as aiding in the decarbonization of local industries such as commercial…
The Hydrogen Injector System technology developed by Logikko and the €2 million funding it has received is aimed at capitalizing on this. Hydrogen injectors from Logikko can be used in any thermal engine, making them a viable option for a wide range of transportation vehicles, including buses, boats, and even generators. As a result of the €2 million infusion, the company’s thermal engines will be decarbonized, and the ecological shift will be achieved. As part of a partnership with a Canadian company, Logikko is also developing an electrolyser that can produce small amounts of green hydrogen for autonomous units in…
