Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised Elawan Energy (Elawan) on a €92 million loan for the project financing of its 250 MW Campanarios photovoltaic (PV) portfolio, comprising five Spanish plants currently under construction with a 50 MW nominal capacity, located in Spain’s Albacete region. The transaction closed on November 03, 2020, with the plants to be operational by Q4 2021. Banco Sabadell, Bankia, Abanca Corporación Bancaria, y Banco Pichincha España, acted as financing entities for the circa €92 million structured loans granted to the special purpose vehicles (SPVs) that own each plant, themselves all owned by Elawan Energy. Equinor plans to locate America’s first offshore wind tower manufacturing facility at the Port of Albany, in upstate New York. KACO new energy has added solar PV inverters with innovative silicon carbide power transistors to its product range. The new inverters create a host of opportunities for commercial and industrial customers to increase the cost-effectiveness of PV systems. Trianel Erneuerbare Energien GmbH (TEE) has acquired its largest wind farm to date from ABO Wind AG. The wind farm, named Dreieck Spreeau, is located in Brandenburg, eastern Germany.  The Spreeau wind farm consists of eight Vestas V150-4.2MW wind turbines. The project is the largest in Germany to use the V150-4.2MW turbines.  With a total output of 33.6 MW, the wind farm is the largest in the TEE portfolio to date.  The wind farm is being built by ABO Wind and the commissioning is planned for the end of 2021.  The wind farm will produce around 110 million kilowatt hours…

Global renewable energy investment increased between 2013 and 2018, reaching its peak at $351 billion in 2017, according to a new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Climate Policy Initiative (CPI). The 2020 edition of Global Landscape of Renewable Energy Finance highlights however, that while a cumulative $1.8 trillion were invested during the five-year period, the amount falls short to achieve the global climate commitments. Wärtsilä and CBO, Brazil’s operator of offshore support vessels, have signed an agreement to convert a vessel from CBO’s fleet to operate with hybrid propulsion. The ‘CBO Flamengo’ will be the first vessel in Latin America to be fitted with a battery pack for hybrid propulsion, which will improve the vessel’s energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint. Mayor Cooper’s administration has entered into a partnership with Nashville Electric Service, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Vanderbilt University to construct 100 megawatts of utility-scale solar power under the TVA Green Invest program. Vanderbilt will be a 25-megawatt co-subscriber to the solar array, thereby reaching its own 100 percent renewable-energy goal for campus operations.
