The Port of Suape, Companhia de Gás de Pernambuco (Copergás) and Qair Brasil are studying a partnership between the companies in a pilot project for the production of green hydrogen in Pernambuco. The product would be destined, through Copergás’ distribution network, to the company’s industrial clients in the region of Ipojuca, one of the eight municipalities located around the port complex. The companies intend to draw up a tripartite memorandum of understanding, with the intention of analyzing the feasibility of the initiative, using the gas company’s distribution network In a meeting between the Director of Environment and Sustainability of the…
The state government of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) and the company Enerfín do Brasil, from the Spanish group Elecnor/Enerfín, signed, this Thursday, at the Piratini Palace, a memorandum of understanding for the development of a potential green hydrogen project. It is the second memorandum with this purpose – in December last year, the state closed a partnership with the company White Martins. “It is a great opportunity for the state. We are mobilizing all the government’s forces to lead and build conditions for RS to have this vocation leveraged. We seek the companies to present the reasons why we…
The U.S. and the European Union are close to a deal aimed at reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian energy sources in an effort to further isolate Russia in retribution for its invasion of Ukraine. The deal, which could be made official this Friday, would aim to secure U.S. natural gas and hydrogen supplies to the Old Continent, Bloomberg reports, citing an official familiar with the plans. “One of the top priorities of both the president and his European allies is to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian gas,” as well as “the practical roadmap for doing so: what steps need to…
Hydrogen Europe is the largest organization of European businesses and groups dedicated to the advancement of this energy source. This effort is a component of the company’s diversification and growth strategy in response to the energy transition problem. Exolum is currently constructing the region’s first green hydrogen production plant and is a member of the Win4H2 alliance, which is working to establish a network of 50 hydrogen stations in order to facilitate the creation of national logistical routes with supply security. Exolum has joined the Hydrogen Europe alliance, a leading European organization dedicated to advancing the development of the European…
The sustainable mobility association Gasnam held an online conference to present the Basque Hydrogen Corridor, a pioneering initiative, born from the hand of Petronor and Repsol, to advance the decarbonization of transport, among other sectors. The projects integrated in this initiative involve an investment of 1,300 million euros until 2026, generating more than 1,340 direct jobs and 6,700 indirect jobs, which will result in the production of 20,000 tons of renewable hydrogen per year and in a reduction of 1.5 million tons of CO2 during this period. The guests at this presentation were welcomed by Gasnam’s general secretary, Eugenia Sillero;…
CS Energy has hired IHI Engineering Australia (a subsidiary of IHI Corporation Japan) to construct the Kogan Renewable Hydrogen Demonstration Plant near Chinchilla. Construction is expected to begin in six months. Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni made the announcement in a media release today. Additionally, Mr de Brenni said that the government would contribute $28.9 million to the project and a refueling network through the government’s $2 billion Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund. CS Energy is currently developing its plans for a refueling network in South West Queensland. “The Kogan Renewable Hydrogen Demonstration Project will…
According to the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), the UK could dominate European fuel cell production and be a global center of excellence, according to an event held in Westminster on the eve of the Spring Statement. As the world continues to debate alternatives to its current reliance on fossil fuels for heating and transportation, as well as their sensitivity to global events, hydrogen is increasingly being touted as a possible solution. APC analysis of the fuel cell and hydrogen tank system revealed that the most valuable components could be mass manufactured in the UK, reducing reliance on foreign markets and…
South Korea’s first biogas hydrogen fueling station built in Chungju, 147 kilometers south of Seoul, using food waste to manufacture and distribute hydrogen fuel. The Chungju Bio-Hydrogen Refueling Station utilizes biogas generated from the Chungju Food Bio Energy Center to produce highly concentrated, environmentally friendly hydrogen with a purity of more than 99.99 percent. The station is equipped to fuel hydrogen cars and also delivers tube trailers to other hydrogen stations. Around 12.3 billion won ($10 million) was spent on the development of an operating system that integrates the manufacturing, storage, transportation, fueling, and sales processes.
German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck is in the Middle East on a whirlwind tour, seeking to speed supply agreements for natural gas, green and blue hydrogen. Germany’s long-term goal is to import up to three million metric tones of hydrogen per year by the end of the decade, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine has accelerated the timeline. Germany’s government is scrambling to replace Russian gas supplies before the conflict’s diplomatic repercussions has an economic consequence. This week, Habeck traveled to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar with a delegation of executives from German energy and industrial enterprises. In Qatar, the…
