Woodside, Australia’s largest energy company, has announced ambitions to expand its hydrogen production portfolio into the United States, purchasing property in Oklahoma for future development of a modular hydrogen facility and signing an agreement with Hyzon Motors. Woodside has leased and optioned to purchase 94 acres (38 hectares) of undeveloped property in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to support future development of its projected H2OK project. Additionally, the Company is pursuing similar land acquisition possibilities in high-growth locations throughout the United States. Subject to regulatory permissions and customer demand, the H2OK concept calls for the construction of a 290-megawatt (MW) facility that will…

RWE and Novatek have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate more closely on the subject of low-carbon and carbon-free fuels. The memorandum of understanding provides for the supply of “blue” ammonia and hydrogen by Novatek to RWE. Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer is currently conducting a so-called pre-FEED (Front End Engineering Design) study for this purpose. It is investigating the possibilities for producing blue ammonia and hydrogen in the Yamal region. The blue hydrogen is to be produced from natural gas using carbon capture and storage (CCS). The fuel is to be produced at Novatek’s planned Obskiy Gas…
The Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry (MITI) approved a hydrogen drone equipped with H3 Dynamics’ AEROSTAK hydrogen fuel cell technology, built by Drone Works with integration support from Nexty Electronics Co. Ltd. The collaboration resulted in Japan’s first approved multi-rotor hydrogen fuel cell drone test flight. The new generation hydrogen drone is fitted with a JFE Container Co. Ltd.-developed compact composite container for high-pressure hydrogen. H3 Dynamics manufactures the unique drone-compatible hydrogen fuel cell system and has initiated technological integration in Japan with Toyota Group member Toyota Tsusho Nexty Electronics. H3 Dynamics, which has its headquarters in Tokyo,…
Over the last year, the hydrogen and fuel cell industries have grown at a rate that far exceeds predictions. As a result of this extraordinary demand, the Western States Hydrogen Alliance (WSHA) has chosen to expand its support for hydrogen and fuel cell markets to all 50 states. We are pleased to announce our new name, the United States Hydrogen Alliance, to reflect this increased reach (USHA). USHA’s mission will remain to be the go-to organization for directly assisting policymakers in developing hydrogen and fuel cell policies, advocating for the hydrogen and fuel cell industries actively and effectively, and enabling…
Employees of Kuzbass State Technical University named after T.F. Gorbachev are creating a unique complex of “deep use” of waste, allowing to obtain electricity and thermal energy, as well as hydrogen and other valuable gases. RIA Novosti reports about it. As explained by the developers of the system, in the terminology adopted by energy specialists, “deep utilization” means an approach in which a conventional fuel cycle is modified to produce some or other valuable substances. These are polygeneration systems that can be used to simultaneously produce heat, electricity, combustible gases, and other substances. Such complexes are characterized by their omnivorousness…
EasyJet has approved plans to develop liquid hydrogen-powered mid-size aircraft in the future, enabling carbon-free flying. The Aerospace Technology Unit revealed a prototype plane capable of carrying 279 passengers halfway around the world without stopping on Monday as part of the government-funded FlyZero initiative. Since 2019, the UK’s budget airline has been collaborating with Airbus to accelerate the construction of a hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by 2035. It regards hydrogen-powered aircraft as critical to its decarbonisation strategy. The airline recently joined the United Nations-backed ‘Race to Zero,’ vowing to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and setting a science-based interim objective…
MWM will introduce commercially available power production solutions ranging in size from 400 kW to 4.5 MW and capable of operating on natural gas combined with up to 25% hydrogen. MWM will begin a phased rollout of commercially accessible MWM generator sets optimized for continuous, prime, and load management operation on natural gas combined with up to 25% hydrogen. The deal is valid for the TCG 3016, TCG 3020, TCG 2032, and TCG 2032B series. Additionally, the business will sell conversion kits for select generator sets developed on these engine platforms that enable hydrogen mixing up to 25% hydrogen. In…
Green hydrogen will be generated in each wind turbine generator and brought to shore via undersea pipes, according to the partners’ plans.
In North America, Meritor’s ePowertrain will be employed in two hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle applications. A Class 8 drayage vehicle and a yard hauler are among the applications.
The two companies will first look at establishing a 10MW pilot-scale renewable hydrogen electrolyser to test the usage of green hydrogen in BlueScope’s Port Kembla blast furnace.
