Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) is an autoregressive language model that uses deep learning to produce human-like text. It is the third-generation language prediction model in the GPT-n series created by OpenAI. GPT-3’s full version has a capacity of 175 billion machine learning parameters, which is over two orders of magnitude greater than that of its predecessor, GPT-2 and is in beta testing as of July 2020. Prior to the release of GPT-3, the largest language model was Microsoft’s Turing NLG, introduced in February 2020, with a capacity ten times less than that of GPT-3. The quality of the text…

EDP Renewables has signed a €426 million sales and purchase agreement with Finerge, one of Portugal’s largest renewable energy companies, for virtually all of stake owned by EDPR – as well as outstanding shareholder loans–in a portfolio of 242 MW of installed onshore wind farms. EDPR completed the divestment through the sale of seven onshore wind farms situated in Ávila and Catalonia. The assets in question were operational for an average of nine years. The value of these properties stands at about 507 million euros depending on the sale price and the value of the net outstanding debt. Consequently, the estimated…

Germany’s remote North Sea island Heligoland is hoping for a rapid increase in green hydrogen production with offshore wind power. The small island about 60 kilometers off the German coast has already enjoyed the boom in offshore wind power production in recent years and now sees an even bigger opportunity with the production of the climate-neutral synthetic gas. “In ten years, green hydrogen from the North Sea will be a normality and a pillar of the national hydrogen strategy.” Heligoland’s mayor, Jörg Singer. Several companies bundled in the Aquaventus initiative plan to build H2 electrolysis installations with a capacity of…

A pilot plant for producing green hydrogen energy for low-emission production of chemicals and fuel has opened in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, the Fraunhofer Centre for Chemical-Biotechnological Processes (CBP) says. The plant, in the town of Leuna, should provide clean hydrogen energy for firms operating in Germany’s “chemical triangle.” The plant works by using photovoltaic or wind power sources to generate hydrogen from water through electrolysis, resulting in a climate-neutral product, Fraunhofer CBP said in a statement. Markus Wolperdinger, head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial and Biotechnology (IGB) said that the platform should show the technical and economic…
