MHI Vestas has installed the first V164 9.5 MW turbine, the most powerful turbine used for a floating wind project, at the Kincardine floating offshore wind farm. The first V164-9.5 MW turbine was installed on the Principle Power WindFloat platform, the first of the five units to be installed on the Kincardine project. Lightsource bp has entered into a purchasing agreement with Array Technologies to supply Lightsource bp’s newly built 1.4GW solar portfolio worldwide with DuraTrack HZ v3 single-axis solar trackers equipped with SmarTrackTM optimizing plant technology. When installed and connected, this newly added solar capacity would produce enough combined renewable electricity to power more than 266,000 households. The Nordex Group has received another big order for the Delta4000 series N149/4.0-4.5. The developer of the wind farm has placed an order with the Nordex Group for 63 turbines for a project in the United States. The project and customer are undisclosed. In the summer of 2021, the Nordex Group will begin to supply and install turbines for this project in the state of Texas. Commerz Real has purchased the Heinsberg wind farm in the North Rhine-Westphalia administrative district of the same name for its newly launched Klimavest Impact fund. Ørsted and bp have jointly agreed to develop a possible large-scale renewable hydrogen project at bp’s Lingen Refinery in North West Germany (Emsland). The project, which is scheduled to be operational in 2024, will consist of a 50 megawatt (MW) electrolyser device capable of producing one ton of renewable hydrogen per hour or approximately 9,000 tons per year. This will be sufficient to offset about 20 precent of the total fossil-based hydrogen consumption of the refinery, avoiding about 80,000 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year – equivalent to about 45,000 cars in Germany. Romande Energie France and Calycé Développement have signed a co-development partnership covering a portfolio of 15 wind farm projects in France. Located in the regions of Grand Est, Hauts de France and Pays de la Loire, the project have a total output of 646 MW. Under the terms of the partnership, Romande Energie will acquire an interest in six early-stage projects (50 percent shareholding), seven late-stage projects (100 pecent), a guaranteed project (80 per cent) and a wind farm that is already in operation (100 percent). Calycé’s team will continue to oversee all projects until they are ready for construction.
