JA Solar’s new DeepBlue 3.0 series modules have passed TUV SUD certification testing to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 standards. These standards certify quality across a variety of product attributes, such as design, structure, materials, components and production technologies. Certification demonstrates the reliability and safety of the product line and its readiness to enter the global PV market. DeepBlue 3.0 modules are built using 182 mm x 182 mm wafers. The efficiency of the module is above 21.0 percent and the output of the mass-produced 72-cell type could reach 545W. As one of the first 182 TUV-certified modules, DeepBlue 3.0…

Abengoa completed the first solar field of the three which is building in the largest solar complex in the world: the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Phase IV of MBR Solar Park is currently under development by Noor Energy 1 PSC, a company owned by DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), ACWA Power, and Silk Road Fund. Abengoa provides the technology and is responsible for the design, engineering and construction, for Shanghai Electric Group Co. Ltd., of three parabolic trough plants of 200 MW each, which are part of phase IV of the complex. A new generation of…
RES has secured the Construction and Asset Management Contract for the 162MW Columboola Solar Farm in Queensland. Hana Financial (advised by ICA Partners and DR&AJU) completed the final stages of development and achieved financial close on the project earlier this month. Construction at Columboola will start immediately. RES’ Construction Management team will support the delivery of the project into operations by managing the EPC and grid connection contracts for the owner. Further, RES will provide a full-time site representative to monitor the construction progress. RES’ in the house grid engineering team will support the project throughout the AEMO registration process.…
Greenalia has begun the process of developing four new offshore wind floating projects by filing its project & environmental planning applications in addition to the Gofio 50MW wind farm, which launched its permitting process earlier this year. Dunas, Mojo, Cardon and Guanche are entirely independent projects with installed capacity of 50 MW each, located on the south-east coast of the island of Gran Canaria, in the vicinity of the Gofio offshore wind farm. In fact, this is one of the areas with the highest wind resource in Europe, making the Canary Islands the perfect platform for the deployment of floating…
Portugal and the Netherlands are committed in the MoU to take another step forward in their commitment to contribute to the growth of green hydrogen in Europe, i.e. from renewable sources, and to confirm their intention to build a strategic export-import value chain to ensure the production and transport of green hydrogen from Portugal to the Netherlands and its hinterland. The Minister for Environment and Climate Action of the Portuguese Republic and the Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy of the Netherlands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) confirming their intention to connect Portugal’s and the Netherlands’ 2030…
The Tennessee Valley Authority is building the first grid-scale, battery energy storage facility owned and operated by TVA. The storage facility will be located near an industrial complex in Vonore, Tennessee, approximately 35 miles southwest of Knoxville. “TVA is building the energy grid of the future. This pilot project will help us to innovate and adopt new technologies that will provide businesses clean, low-cost, reliable electricity while helping them meet their sustainability goals.”Dale Harris, senior manager who leads research and development for TVA. Known as the Vonore Battery Energy Storage System(BESS), the project will use lithium-ion batteries to store 40…
Almost a quarter of Germany’s wind turbines require a new business model when fixed payments under the country’s Renewable Energy Act (EEG) expire after their 20-year guaranteed support period, says a study by digital energy system solutions provider Nefino. The study commissioned by Swiss energy company Alpiq also found that minimum distance rules for wind parks to the nearest settlement make it difficult to replace old turbines with new larger ones. “The consequences vary greatly from region to region. Northern federal states, where wind energy was expanded early on, are more affected by the end of EEGsupport than southern Germany.” Nefino’s Jan-Hendrik Piel. Fifty-two percent…
The Wind Energy Cluster WAB, with its Scottish partner DeepWind, has signed a three-year cooperation agreement. The agreement aims to work more closely with joint efforts to increase offshore wind power and to grow the market for green wind hydrogen. Among the proposed activities are collaborative matchmaking and networking events. In addition, information, experiences and expertise will be shared and evaluated by WAB and DeepWind and kept informed about progress in joint projects. In this way, the partners aim to promote the transnational offshore wind industry and the development of green hydrogen at sea and to help, in their exchange…
