Vestas has entered into an arrangement with the investment management firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), whereby Vestas will obtain a 25 percent minority interest in the parent companies of CIP. The stake will be purchased at a price of €500 million, in the form of an upfront payment of €180 million and a earnout of €320 million. GE Renewable Energy has been confirmed as the preferred turbine supplier for Dogger Bank C, the 1.2 GW third phase of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank wind farm, a 50:50 joint venture between SSE Renewables and Equinor, that will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm when complete in 2026. The agreement includes the upscaled Haliade-X 14 MW wind turbine and a Service Supply Agreement to provide operations and maintenance support for five years. The Gresham House Energy Storage Fund has selected EDF to optimize its new 50MW battery site in the Wickham Market. Capable of storing 75MWh of energy, this is the UK’s largest battery installed to date. Falck Renewables has purchased the remaining 30 percent of Big Fish SPV and Iron SPV from Canadian Solar Group. Big Fish SPV owns a solar project currently under construction in the provinces of Catania and Siracusa, Sicily, with a total capacity of more than 250 MW. The project, which acquired grid link and preliminary land rights, applied for licenses and permits at the end of 2019. Solarcentury has received construction permits for three solar farms in Cádiz, Spain. Construction, which is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2021, will require an investment of €75 million. Once completed, the projects would further improve the energy transition in Spain. The three sites, Arenosas, Malabrigo and El Yarte, will be built on a 350-hectare site and generate 305 GWh of renewable energy per year, enough to power 90,000 households. RES and Octopus Renewables have signed a three-year spares management contract which will see RES supply inverter spares for the clean energy investor’s solar assets in the UK. The agreement requires RES to own over 1000 spare parts that are compatible with Octopus Renewables’ inverter fleet and deliver these on-demand within a guaranteed time period. This provides substantial availability improvement and commercial advantage for 640 MW of Octopus’ UK solar portfolio. Vestas will supply and oversee the construction of V150-4.2 MW turbines for the two 50 MW Nhon Hoa 1 and 2 wind farms in Gia Lai Province of Vietnam. Canadian Solar has completed the sale of Gunma Aramaki, a 19 MWp operational solar power plant in the Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan for approximately $64 million. Canadian Solar sold its equity interest in the project to a number of passive investors in Japan and remains the asset manager and provider of operations and maintenance (O&M) services under a long-term arrangement. Gunma Aramaki entered commercial service in December 2018 and is powered by Canadian Solar High Efficiency Modules. Ventolines has signed as an offshore wind expert partner for the Mayflower Wind project off Massachusetts and opened its first permanent U.S. office in Boston. Mayflower Wind, a joint venture between Shell New Energies and Ocean Winds (the global offshore wind partnership between EDP Renewables and ENGIE), will produce enough clean energy to power more than half a million homes in Massachusetts. The project uses a federal lease area roughly 30 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and 23 miles south of Nantucket.
