U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross has revealed that the Department of Economic Development (EDA) is awarding a $2,166 million grant to the Governor’s Office of Energy, Augusta, Maine, to create a roadmap for the creation of an offshore wind power industry. Siemens Gamesa has received a series of orders for eight new wind farms in Pakistan during the 2020 fiscal year, totaling 410 MW. These projects will place the company as one of the leading players in Pakistan’s emerging market for wind energy. The Nordex Group has received a 24 MW order from its regular customer Sancak Enerji, for the Baglar-3 wind farm in Turkey. Nordex will supply five N133/4800 wind turbines. The order also contains a plan for Premium Service throughout a ten-year period. The Baglar-3 wind farm will be installed in the province of Konya, near its provincial capital of the same name, some 200 kilometers south of Ankara. Mainstream Renewable Power has placed an order with Vestas for the 109 MW Ckani wind park to be located in Antofagasta, Chile. The contract includes the supply and installation of 26 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines, as well as the Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for the operation and maintenance of the wind farm for the next 20 years. NextEra Energy Transmission, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, has entered into final agreements with Blackstone’s affiliates to purchase GridLiance Holdco and GridLiance for approximately $660 million, including debt assumptions. According to the latest statistics published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), renewable energy continues to bring socio-economic benefits by generating a number of jobs worldwide. Vestas has received an order for 17 V150-5.6 MW wind turbines in the USA. The order covers the supply and commissioning of turbines, as well as a 10-year service agreement designed to ensure optimized efficiency over the lifetime of the project. The delivery of turbines is scheduled for the third quarter of 2021, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
