The city of Charlotte has become the first municipality under Duke Energy’s Green Source Advantage (GSA) initiative to execute a renewable energy agreement –further expanding solar energy in North Carolina. GE Renewable Energy has been selected by Fina Enerji to supply 52 of its 3 MW platform onshore wind turbines for four wind farms in Turkey: Baglama, Tayakadin, Yalova and Pazarkoy. The wind farms with a total capacity of 193 MW would generate enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 195.000 homes, save around 650.000 tons of CO2 and help Turkey’s renewable energy goal. Claritas Poland has received a new interim financing for 25 photovoltaic systems in Poland. The construction has already started and should be completed by Q1 2020. The consulting firm Capcora is acting as financial advisor with the structuring of the transaction and debt sourcing. The new portfolio, which is to be built by the end of the first quarter of 2020, consists of 25 open-space photovoltaic systems with an output of up to 1 MW each.  The portfolio benefits from a 15-year contract from the auction in November 2018. The first foundation for Vattenfall’s offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak, offshore Denmark, has been placed on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. As a part of the project 72 wind turbines will be installed on the foundations. The result will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm with a capacity that covers the annual electricity consumption of about 600,000 Danish households. “The foundation represents the first visible offshore part of the wind farm itself. SunPower announced that its planned company split into two independent, pure-play solar companies took an important step forward when Maxeon Solar Technologies’ future investor and long-time partner Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor , received necessary regulatory approval from China’s State Administration for Market Regulation. Equinor, Shell and Total have decided to invest in the Northern Lights project in Norway’s first exploitation licence for CO2 storage on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Siemens Gamesa intends, together with Taiwan-based suppliers, to expand its nacelle assembly facility in Taichung to create a regional offshore wind nacelle industrial hub. The first project to be supported by the broader manufacturing plant will be the 300 MW Hai Long 2 project. The expansion is subject to certain conditions including the acceptance by the Taiwanese authorities of Hai Long 2’s Industrial Relevance Proposal (IRP), and the final investment decision by the project partners. DEME Concessions, a DEME Group subsidiary, completed the sale of its 12.5 percent interest in the Merkur offshore wind farm to APG and TRIG. The consortium comprising of funds managed and/or advised by Partners Group (50 percent), InfraRed Capital Partners (25 percent), DEME Concessions (12.5 precent), GE Energy Financial Services (6.25 percent) and ADEME, acting on behalf of France “Investments for the Future” programme (6.25 percent) successfully completed the selling of 100 percent of Merkur Offshore, one of the largest wind farms in Germany.
