Nordex will supply 17 AW132/3465 turbines for the 58.8 MW Ventos Serra do Mel 4 (VSM4) wind farm owned by Voltalia Brasil. The order also includes a 15-year service agreement for servicing and maintaining the turbines. Nestlé UK has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement to buy the output of 31 MW from Ørsted’s Race Bank offshore wind farm. Nestlé UK will start purchasing 125GWh of green power per year from 1 May 2020 to cover 50 percent of Nestlé UK’s power consumption. Parkwind and Bladt have signed an agreement to design, build, and install the substation Arcadis Ost 1 in the German Baltic Sea. The offshore wind farm, 19 km from Rugen Island, is scheduled to start construction works in 2022. Bladt Industries is supplying Parkwind with the full substation, with Semco Maritime and ISC as the main partners. Edda Wind has signed long term charter agreements for two of the four offshore wind vessels ordered from Spanish yards with MHI Vestas and Ocean Breeze Energy, respectively. Edda Wind, the offshore wind segment of the Østensjø Group has signed a construction contract at Astilleros Gondan for two CSOVs, and a construction contract at Astilleros Balenciaga for two SOVs. Wärtsilä will supply Canada-based Alectra Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Alectra Utilities, with an energy storage system of 2 MW/5,4 MWh. The system will be used at Georgian College in Ontario, and it is intended to significantly reduce the power costs of the facility by using energy storage to minimize electricity usage when the demand for electricity peaks. WP Systems has tested an updated version of its SYSTEM terra work platform for use on all existing onshore turbines. Bombora conducted a metocean survey off the northern coastline of Lanzarote’s Spanish Canary Island, making a significant step in the renewable energy aspirations of the island and the development of a 3.0MW wave park project. The obtained data will provide the site with the essential physical and environmental characteristics to progress to the design and construction process. Two new studies have been released by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) analyzing different renewable energy technologies and the economic impact of wind projects. “Offshore Renewable Energy Technologies in the Gulf of Mexico” assessed multiple offshore renewable energy technologies to determine which are best suited for development in the Gulf of Mexico. The renewable technologies that were included are: wind, wave, tidal, current, solar, deepwater source cooling, and hydrogen.
