ElDorado National (California), or ENC, will get solutions from BAE Systems’ Gen3 product line for its next-generation battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell transit vehicles.
The Gen3 power inverters and electric motors from BAE Systems will be included into ENC’s Axess Battery Electric Bus (EVO-BE) and Axess Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Bus (EVO-FC) to provide an unified structural powertrain for both platforms. The Modular Power Control System (MPCS) and Modular Accessory Power System (MAPS) from BAE Systems are modularly designed, giving ENC the option to use a single electric drive propulsion and accessory power management system for both of its new zero emission transit bus offers.
A 125kW hydrogen fuel cell from Plug will be included in ENC’s EVO-FC in addition to the Gen3 hardware from BAE Systems. For hydrogen fuel cell buses, the ProGen 125kW fuel cell offers best-in-class power density, fuel-based operational flexibility, and range flexibility. In everyday use across North America, over 55,000 Plug fuel cells are supplying both small and big fleets.
Gen3 technology from BAE Systems will be integrated with a battery system provided by Proterra Powered on the Axess EVO-BE platform to provide zero-emission operation under a single shared powertrain.
