Bavaria will acquire the first hydrogen train for pilot tests on Bayerische Regiobahn lines starting in mid-2023, according to Siemens.
In the spring of 2022, the public will be shown a two-car hydrogen-powered train set from the current generation.
Beginning in mid-2023, the train will be tested on various routes, including Augsburg-Füssen.
Pilot operations in the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) train network are expected to last 30 months.
The train is scheduled to start carrying passengers in January 2024.
