Logan Energy, a pioneer in hydrogen technologies, will develop and provide one of Europe’s largest capacity hydrogen refueling stations, enabling the roll-out of one of the UK’s largest zero-emission bus orders in Belfast.
Commissioned by Northern Ireland’s primary public transport operator, Translink, the £1.6 million Belfast fueling station, which is scheduled to be placed in Newtownabbey Bus Depot (pending planning approval), would supply a fleet of twenty purpose-built hydrogen fuel cell buses.
These buses will be delivered alongside a fleet of new Battery Electric vehicles, establishing Translink as the UK’s fourth largest zero-emission bus operator.
Logan Energy of Scotland was awarded the contract based on its strong track record and competence in delivering integrated hydrogen solutions at a reasonable price. It will sustain the refueling station for up to 15 years and will contribute to the site’s goal of increasing vehicle traffic by 25% in the future years.
The refueling station will have a total capacity of 2,500 kg of green hydrogen per day, allowing Translink to expand its Fuel Cell bus fleet in the future without modifying the refueling station.
