The Benelux Hydrogen Conference, organized by WaterstofNet and the Benelux Secretariat, emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration in the development of an integrated hydrogen market.
The conference showcased the outcomes of the Benelux hydrogen study, highlighting areas for collaboration and the role of regional authorities in facilitating such initiatives.
The study, presented by Samira Farahani, emphasized the significance of cross-border collaboration in driving the development of an integrated hydrogen market. It explored potential areas for collaboration and identified ways in which the Benelux Union and regional authorities can support and facilitate such partnerships.
During the conference, industry experts and representatives from various sectors, including industry, mobility, ports, and transmission system operators (TSOs), discussed cross-border challenges and proposed steps to accelerate the formation of an integrated hydrogen market. Examples of cross-border projects, such as Green Octopus and LiHyP, were presented to showcase progress in addressing these challenges.
The conference highlighted the need for collective action and the urgency to move forward without delay. By engaging stakeholders across the entire hydrogen value chain and fostering collaboration among regions and countries, the Benelux and its neighboring regions can serve as a role model for cross-border hydrogen ecosystems. The aim is to set an example for the rest of Europe in advancing the development of integrated hydrogen markets.
