For the design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of a 5 MW electrolyzer and associated system for the production of green hydrogen and the blending of hydrogen with natural gas in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Network, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) issued an invitation for expressions of interest (EOI).

The bidders should be reputable engineering organizations having a background in water electrolyzer technology, natural gas mixing, or both.

Within the already-existing steel pipeline network, the created green hydrogen will be combined with natural gas. In the gas distribution networks of Ahmednagar City, BPCL is considering the idea of combining green hydrogen with natural gas.

A pilot project has been formed to study the technical and economic ramifications of combining natural gas and hydrogen in order to assess the technical and business repercussions.

The land required for the system’s installation and commissioning in the area will be provided by BPCL. Fully automated equipment must be able to operate without human supervision and have built-in safety features. It must adhere to all applicable requirements for hydrogen-producing units.
