Carbon Clean, a market leader in cost-effective carbon dioxide capture and separation technology, announced the signing of an MOU with BayoTech, an advanced on-site hydrogen production company, to explore commercial opportunities for hydrogen and carbon capture and utilization deployment.
Carbon Clean and BayoTech will collaborate on a demonstration facility to test, build, and run a carbon capture plant at a BayoTech facility in North America by the end of 2022.
The two companies have agreed on a timeline for integrating carbon capture technology into their hydrogen generation units. A BayoTech H2-1000 generation unit and Carbon Clean’s carbon capture technology will be used in the demonstration facility. This collaboration allows process optimization, lowering the cost of producing hydrogen and CO2 on a small scale.
Small-scale H2/CO2 solutions are ideal for biogenic sources such as anaerobic digestion of landfills, organic waste, and biomass plants that can produce carbon negative hydrogen. Both hydrogen and CO2 are critical components of the energy transition and the process of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Utilizing dual solutions for hydrogen production and CO2 recovery is critical for the continued development of the hydrogen economy. With both companies focusing on scalable and modular technologies, this collaboration would promote the implementation of the circular carbon economy by turning capital into useful low, zero, and negative carbon fuels.
The project marks an important step in the progression of producing low to negative carbon hydrogen and meeting net zero targets.
“We are excited about this breakthrough partnership with BayoTech that is going to enable the growth of the green hydrogen economy. We look forward to this relationship growing to realise our shared objective of delivering affordable and modular H2/CO2 solutions to drive the transition to a greener future.”
Aniruddha Sharma, CEO of Carbon Clean.
“We are thrilled to be working with a world leading company like Carbon Clean to deliver low and negative carbon hydrogen projects. The combination of technologies provides an ideal solution to industrial decarbonisation and clean fuel production that is deployable today.”
Mo Vargas, CEO of BayoTech.
