Chemours and BWT FUMATECH have recently unveiled their joint venture, THE Mobility F.C. Membranes Company GmbH, which aims to manufacture fuel cell and humidifier membranes for vehicles.
With both companies boasting more than 85 years of experience in fuel cells, this collaboration will leverage their expertise and assets to enhance the supply of HDFC membranes to original equipment manufacturers. The joint venture, based in Germany, will utilize Chemours’ Nafion ion exchange materials in partnership with FUMATECH BWT GmbH, a subsidiary of the privately held BWT Group.
Gerardo Familiar, President of Advanced Performance Materials at Chemours, emphasizes the vital role played by Nafion ion exchange membranes in driving the hydrogen economy and supporting a sustainable future. He highlights that the joint venture with FUMATECH BWT GmbH and the BWT Group will enable solutions to promote clean energy and facilitate the global transition towards decarbonization.
The newly formed company, THE Mobility F.C. Membranes Company, will serve as a global supplier of fuel cell and humidifier membranes. This development comes at a time when hydrogen technology is gaining prominence, not only for smaller vehicles but also for large trucks.
Chemours, headquartered in Wilmington with a research and development center in Newark, has been at the forefront of innovation in fuel cells. Through the joint venture, they aim to further advance the technology and contribute to a more sustainable and cleaner future.
