Climate Impact Corporation (CIC), a leading developer of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Topsoe, a global leader in energy transition technologies.

The partnership aims to integrate Topsoe’s modular equipment for producing hydrogen derivatives—such as ammonia, e-methane, and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)—into CIC’s proprietary modular hydrogen production model. This collaboration could lower production costs and support CIC’s goal of achieving $2 per kilogram of renewable hydrogen by 2030.

CIC’s modular hydrogen production units are designed to operate entirely off-grid, combining solar panels, atmospheric water generators, electrolyzers, and supporting infrastructure. These units will power CIC’s two 10GW renewable hydrogen projects in central Australia, which have already secured significant offtake interest from European and Asian customers in hard-to-abate sectors.

The partnership with Topsoe enables CIC to produce multiple hydrogen derivatives—such as green ammonia and e-methane—from a single facility. This flexibility allows CIC to meet the evolving demands of its offtake partners, including utilities, shipping companies, and heavy industries seeking to decarbonize. By eliminating the need for excess hydrogen storage, Topsoe’s modular equipment ensures 24/7 production, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Topsoe’s expertise in producing hydrogen derivatives aligns with CIC’s strategy to lower costs and improve scalability. The company’s modular equipment is designed to adapt to fluctuating energy inputs, making it ideal for integration with renewable energy sources like solar power. By leveraging Topsoe’s technology, CIC aims to streamline production and deliver cost-competitive hydrogen to its global customers.

By combining modular production with advanced derivative technologies, the partnership addresses key barriers to hydrogen adoption, including cost, scalability, and infrastructure.
