For the Port Kembla Lateral Pipeline project, Jemena Asset Management awarded the contract to CPW America, a wholly owned subsidiary of its steel pipe segment, Corinth Pipeworks.
About 13 kilometers of 18-inch diameter High Frequency Welded (HFW) line pipe will be covered by the contract, which includes FBE coating, internal epoxy lining, and the supply of induction bends and is certified to transport up to 100% hydrogen. Within the year 2022, Corinth Pipeworks in Greece will produce and ship the HFW pipes directly to Australia.
To connect the planned Port Kembla Energy Terminal to the existing 797-mile Eastern Gas Pipeline, a gas pipeline will be built. The same goes for Jemena’s exploration of hydrogen’s potential applications for both domestic and commercial use. Consequently, Jemena has chosen Corinth’s solution of high-quality steel pipes for the future transmission of up to 100% hydrogen.
Hydrogen certified pipes and the use of the company’s state-of-the-art hydrogen testing laboratory have been recognized by this award. To ensure that the pipes meet the ASME B31.12 code’s requirements, they will be tested in-house.
