In order to investigate the use of ammonia as a carrier to move clean hydrogen from production to consumer, Amogy is collaborating with Trafigura.
The project will investigate the viability of using ammonia cracking technology to feed pipelines, fuel cell cars, steel mills, and thermal power plants with hydrogen in order to support the expanding hydrogen industry.
In order to facilitate the high volume transportation of fuels with zero emissions, Trafigura seeks to evaluate the generation of future low-carbon energy sources.
Amogy is now scaling up its unique cracking process for use in bigger applications after demonstrating how it can turn ammonia back into hydrogen.
The partners will also collaborate to assess the potential and economics of large-scale ammonia crackers in order to meet Europe’s projected 20 million tonnes of hydrogen demand by 2030.
