Hadean Energy is making significant strides in developing its hydrogen technology, thanks to testing at the Hydrogen Technology Demonstration Facility at CSIRO’s Clayton campus in Victoria.
This opportunity allows the company to test its Solid Oxide Electrolysis technology in realistic conditions as it moves toward commercialization.
Utilizing CSIRO’s powerful infrastructure, innovators like Hadean Energy gain access to essential real-world testing environment. The facility offers renewable electricity, deionised water, and necessary safety systems crucial for hydrogen technology trials. Supported by CSIRO’s Kick-Start grant, Hadean Energy is demonstrating its advanced electrolyser, which reduces electricity consumption by up to 30 percent compared to traditional models. Additionally, the technology is capable of producing syngas for e-fuels with reduced production and maintenance costs.
The ongoing trials aim to prove the long-term durability and efficiency of the electrolyser, and Hadean Energy’s CEO, Chris Rowland, has reported promising progress. The successful completion of this phase is a critical step toward scaling up to commercial production, which plays a vital role in decarbonizing industries that are difficult to transition.
The Hydrogen Technology Demonstration Facility supports emerging hydrogen technologies, providing essential resources and expert guidance. Karen Kozielski, Deputy Leader of the Hydrogen Industry Mission, stressed the facility’s significance in transitioning technologies from small-scale to larger, market-applicable levels, with rigorous safety protocols in place.
