Dr. Danica Maljković, Chair of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, Hydrogen Europe Board of Directors member, and Chief Technology Officer at DOK-ING Indeloop, has joined the Energy News Advisory Board, bringing two decades of expertise in hydrogen technology, renewable energy systems, and energy policy.
A rare hybrid of scientist, engineer, and strategist, Maljković has shaped Croatia’s hydrogen economy while advancing Europe’s clean energy transition through technical innovation and regulatory advocacy.
Maljković’s career spans 50+ EU-funded energy projects, from geothermal and biomass to solar thermal systems, underpinned by a PhD in Power Engineering (University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu) and an MBA in Energy Economics (Sveučilište u Rijeci / University of Rijeka). This dual expertise enables her to navigate complex intersections of R&D and market viability, such as her doctoral work on machine learning models for district heating optimization—a methodology now applied to hydrogen demand forecasting. At DOK-ING Indeloop, she spearheads thermochemical gasification technologies for organic waste-to-hydrogen conversion and integrates electrolysis systems with photovoltaic and hydropower projects, addressing scalability challenges in green hydrogen production.
Architect of Croatia’s Hydrogen Ambitions
As President of the Hydrogen Economy Association within the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Maljković has positioned Croatia as a regional hydrogen hub, advocating for cross-border infrastructure and policy frameworks aligned with REPowerEU targets. Her leadership at DOK-ING—a Zagreb-based industrial innovator—has cemented the firm’s role in developing hydrogen valleys, with projects targeting industrial decarbonization and renewable energy storage.
Maljković’s work transcends technical innovation. She advises governments and regulators on balancing energy security with decarbonization, drawing from her experience managing €500 million+ in energy investments across private equity, utilities, and institutional stakeholders. Her collaborations with the The World Bank and European Commission have shaped grant schemes for hydrogen infrastructure, while her critiques of fragmented EU carbon capture policies highlight the need for cohesive cross-border CO₂ transport agreements.
Maljković’s appointment strengthens Energy News’ coverage of hydrogen economies, regulatory landscapes, and sustainable industrial innovation. Her insights into electrolyzer scalability, renewable hybridization, and policy-driven market barriers will inform critical analysis of Europe’s energy transition—a mission she defines as “merging technical precision with economic realism to deliver systems, not just prototypes.”
