“In terms of energy, we want to become increasingly independent from other nations. We have been compelled to consider this angle by the epidemic and the crisis brought on by the rise in energy and raw material prices. In Veneto, we are utilizing our excellence in both production and research and innovation to reach the goal of developing a hub for the generation of hydrogen “.
In light of this, Roberto Marcato, regional councilor for economic development and energy, announces that the regional council has approved the request for support in building green hydrogen production facilities in defunct industrial areas under the PNRR, Mission 2 “Green revolution and ecological transition,” Component 2 “Renewable energy, hydrogen, network, and sustainable mobility,” Investment 3.1 “Production in defunct industrial areas,” funded by the European Union – Next.
By order of the Ministry of Ecological Transition dated October 21, 2022, the Veneto Region was given a budget of 20 million euros for the purpose of supporting local hydrogen production, distribution, and end uses in industry and transportation. This call for proposals, which was published in the Regional Official Bulletin, has significant effects on the reduction of CO2 emissions and pollution.
“We are adamant that Veneto has the ideal environment for the development of hydrogen-generating facilities, says Councilor Marcato. The call provides a chance to determine the most effective programs for implementing the project concept all the way up to the establishment of a functional regional hydrogen supply chain “.
The measure provides funding for the installation of electrolyzers at abandoned industrial sites for the production of renewable hydrogen. It also covers the installation of related auxiliary systems required for the production process and additional plants used by electrolyzers, including any electricity storage systems.
Applications for funding will be accepted from 12 a.m. on February 1 to 12 a.m. on February 28 from businesses of all sizes. By the end of March 2023, the ranking is anticipated to be approved. The notification on the regional website’s dedicated page can be found along with the announcement on the official bulletin.
