Emerson, a global technology and software leader, has joined forces with Cavendish Renewable Technology (CRT), an Australian startup specializing in hydrogen technologies, to expedite the deployment of CRT’s groundbreaking hydrogen production solutions.

As the world intensifies its search for sustainable energy alternatives, hydrogen has emerged as a promising contender in the quest for cleaner energy sources. With its potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, hydrogen technologies have captured the attention of researchers, industries, and governments worldwide.

According to Ani Kulkarni, Ph.D., CEO of CRT, the future looks promising for hydrogen. Kulkarni believes that the collaboration with Emerson will optimize and scale their operations, consequently accelerating the global adoption of hydrogen technologies to achieve energy targets and combat global emissions.

Under the partnership, Emerson will utilize its extensive expertise and portfolio in automation, including software, control systems, instrumentation, valves, and safety solutions, to support CRT’s hydrogen electrolysers and ammonia processing equipment. By leveraging Emerson’s hydrogen experience and automation technology, CRT aims to digitalize its operations, enhancing safety, reliability, and efficiency while expediting the delivery of its hydrogen-based products and solutions.

CRT CEO Kulkarni highlights the two-fold value proposition of the company. Firstly, their proprietary electrolyser technology enables the large-scale production of green hydrogen at a competitive cost compared to fossil fuels. Secondly, their ammonia solution offers a one-step process to convert ammonia directly into electricity, significantly reducing energy consumption compared to the traditional method of converting ammonia back into hydrogen before electricity generation.

The goals of this collaboration extend beyond individual company success. The partnership between Emerson and CRT represents a crucial step towards realizing the potential of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier. By combining their expertise and resources, the two companies aim to advance the global hydrogen industry, contribute to sustainable development, and reduce carbon emissions on a global scale.

The impact of this collaboration could be significant. Hydrogen has the potential to revolutionize various sectors, including transportation, power generation, and industrial processes. By accelerating the deployment of hydrogen technologies, Emerson and CRT aim to drive the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.

However, challenges lie ahead. The widespread adoption of hydrogen faces hurdles such as high production costs, infrastructure development, and ensuring the safety of hydrogen storage and transport. Overcoming these challenges will require continued collaboration, innovation, and investment from stakeholders across industries, governments, and research institutions.

Emerson and CRT’s partnership represents a significant milestone in the journey towards a hydrogen-powered future. As the demand for clean energy solutions intensifies, collaborations like this play a vital role in accelerating the development and deployment of hydrogen technologies. Together, they pave the way for a greener and more sustainable energy ecosystem.
