Enapter has strategically expanded its product portfolio with the revolutionary “AEM Flex 120.” This innovative AEM electrolyser is poised to streamline the launch of industrial and refuelling pilot projects, marking a significant leap forward in the realm of green hydrogen production.
The AEM Flex 120 boasts a remarkable design, featuring up to 50 AEM Stack core modules. This architecture offers unparalleled flexibility, enabling the system to swiftly respond to fluctuating renewable energy inputs. It is engineered to produce approximately 53 kg of hydrogen per day at an astonishing purity level of 99.999 percent, with an optional dryer. What truly sets this system apart is its ability to bridge the market gap between Enapter’s AEM Electrolyser EL 4 (producing 1 kg/day) and its megawatt-scale AEM Multicore (with a capacity of 450 kg/day).
The AEM Flex 120’s inaugural commercial product, tailored for the esteemed German company ABC-Klinker, will be unveiled to Enapter partners and system integrators on September 21 in Saerbeck, Germany. Enapter has strategically organized its production capacities to ensure the delivery of additional AEM Flex 120 electrolysers can commence in 2024.
German brick producer ABC-Klinker has positioned itself as a trailblazer by becoming the first customer for the AEM Flex 120. Like many industrial players, ABC-Klinker relies on natural gas for “process heat” in their production furnaces. However, recognizing the volatility of natural gas prices, they have chosen the AEM Flex 120 to spearhead their pilot project. Their aim is to swiftly adapt by incorporating cost-effective clean hydrogen gas into their furnace operations, initiating a journey toward 100% green hydrogen utilization.
Numerous industries seeking to replace fossil fuel usage in furnaces and ovens, including tiles, ceramics, and glass production, are expressing keen interest in the AEM Flex 120’s flexible and scalable solution. The system is versatile, finding applications in forklift, car, and bus refueling stations, as well as providing electricity storage for peak shaving and energy self-sufficiency.
One of the standout features of the AEM Flex 120 is its ability to allow customers to select the precise level of hydrogen production required, ranging from 70kW to 120kW. Moreover, it offers the flexibility to add production capacity for those who start with smaller requirements. By employing efficient AEM technology and avoiding oversizing, this product provides a cost-effective gateway to pilot green hydrogen initiatives. The skid-mounted design ensures easy and rapid integration into various customer environments.
Enapter’s energy management software complements the AEM Flex 120, enabling the planning, control, and remote monitoring of hydrogen production, storage, and transmission. This ensures the efficient use of available energy resources, guarantees a reliable hydrogen supply, and minimizes maintenance requirements.
