Eneco and SwifterwinT have entered into a 15-year contract for the purchase of the power supplied by SwifterwinT’s 37 onshore wind turbines.
As of 2023, these turbines will produce 780 GWh of green power per year, which is equal to the total electricity usage of about 275.000 households. This is enough to give the entire city of Almere green power each year. The goal of Eneco is to use the electricity locally, wherever possible.
The SwifterwinT turbines are part of Windplanblauw wind farm in the Dronten and Lelystad municipalities, situated in the northwest corner of Flevoland province.
The existing 74 wind turbines in the project area will be replaced with 61 bigger turbines with more capacity. Of those 61 turbines, 37 are onshore. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) covers the onshore portion of the wind farm.
Construction is set to start in 2021 and is expected to be completed in early 2023.

This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 2.4 million households.”
