ENERCON has signed a contract with TRUNGNAM Group to deliver its new E-160 EP5 E2 for the Ea Nam wind farm.

The collaboration will begin this year with construction. ENERCON is supplying its new E-160 EP5 E2 for what will be the country’s largest wind farm in the future. After completion in 2021, the Ea Nam wind farm in the Dak Lak province will have an output of over 400 MW.

The E-160 EP5 E2 has a direct drive 5.5 MW permanent magnet generator that can generate more than 21,500 MWh at locations with an average wind speed of 7.5 m/s. The wind turbine will be delivered with the patented modular steel tower, which has already proven to be successful in Vietnam after the successful initial construction of this tower type in recent months.

“By introducing our latest technology, we are increasing the feasibility of projects under the current FIT program and are also well positioned for projects beyond 2021 when a new regulation is to come into force. With the new E-160 EP5 E2, we are taking the wind energy industry in Vietnam to a new level. This wind turbine not only has the largest rotor diameter, but also the highest generator output that will be installed in Vietnam in 2021.”

Steffen Brauns, regional sales manager for the Asia Pacific.

In addition to the E-160 EP5 E2, the project includes a number of E-138 EP3 E2s from ENERCON’s 4 MW class, 98 of which will be installed across Vietnam in 2021.

“When we started four years ago, ENERCON had the ambition to change the energy landscape in Vietnam. But none of this would have been possible without the strong commitment of the government and the outstanding performance of our customers. The TRUNGNAM Group, in particular, which is a leader in wind energy development in Vietnam, has made a significant contribution to ENERCON’s success.”

Van Hung Albert, ENERCON’s local sales manager.

“ENERCON has proven to be a reliable partner with the highest quality standards. As the numerous projects that we have carried out together prove, the company has supported us by making the latest technological developments available. Today our projects include the E-103 EP2, the E-126 EP3, the E-138 EP3 E2 and now the E-160 EP5 E2. We are very excited to follow up on developments and make Vietnam the leader in renewable energy in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Nguyen Tam Tien, general director of the TRUNGNAM Group.

“Today, customers don’t just focus on the product. It’s about the package of our product in combination with a wide range of services that we offer project planners. This results in successful projects like the ones we see in Vietnam today.”

Steffen Brauns, regional sales manager for the Asia Pacific.
