The European Commission’s “European Alliance for Pure Hydrogen” has added Glavbolgarstroy Construction Company as a member.
One of the key elements in the European Union’s new industrial strategy is the Alliance for Hydrogen Technologies, which aims to deploy hydrogen technologies on a large scale by 2030.
As part of the EU’s efforts to achieve industrial leadership, the initiative, which will be launched in July 2020, will actively work to accelerate industry’s decarbonization in order to contribute to the Union’s ambitious climate and energy targets With the goal of zeroing out greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the European Alliance brings together industry, public authorities, civil society, as well as other stakeholders.
Europe’s green deal has already prioritized hydrogen for a clean and circular economy, with particular emphasis on its role in ensuring secure, affordable, and clean energy for all. Aside from the massive plans for electrification, hydrogen can be used to power non-electrifying sectors and stabilize green energy flow fluctuations. While the European Commission prioritizes the development of renewable hydrogen production technologies (wind and solar), it also recognizes that low-carbon hydrogen production will be necessary in the short and medium term.
For Europe to achieve higher levels of hydrogen consumption, gas infrastructure offers many advantages. Rather than constructing brand new networks from scratch, it is more cost-effective and time-efficient to use existing natural gas infrastructure (by blending gas with hydrogen) to develop the hydrogen market. In order to modernize this infrastructure, construction companies and manufacturers/suppliers of technical equipment will play a central role.
With more than a decade of experience working on major gas projects of strategic and regional importance (compressor station upgrades, pipeline upgrades, metering stations, etc.), Glavbolgarstroy is ready to partner with all stakeholders in the transformation of the gas market. As a member of the European Alliance for Pure Hydrogen, GBS is looking for active cooperation and partnership with companies that share these and similar views.
