Evonik Industries is collaborating with VoltH2 to enhance green hydrogen production at the Delfzijl chemical park in the Netherlands.
VoltH2 will construct a 50-MW electrolyzer near Evonik’s hydrogen peroxide plant, scheduled to start operations by the end of 2027. This will be the first green hydrogen water electrolysis facility of its kind in northern Netherlands.
The agreement will allow Evonik to source a significant part of its hydrogen needs from this green hydrogen electrolyzer. Evonik will continue using its conventional hydrogen production methods to supply any additional hydrogen needed during the transition. Additionally, VoltH2 plans to build a filling station for tube trailers at the site, ensuring a 24/7 hydrogen supply to other customers as well.
With VoltH2, Evonik finds a partner equipped with local resources and technical acumen vital for transitioning to a more environmentally friendly industry.
Evonik and VoltH2’s joint commitment demonstrates the feasibility of large-scale sustainability initiatives. This collaboration underscores the importance of cross-sector partnerships in achieving sustainable industrial transformations.
