Feintool, in collaboration with technology partner SITEC, has been awarded a long-term contract in China focused on hydrogen mobility.

The contract entails the high-volume production of ready-to-install metallic bipolar plates for a leading Chinese fuel cell manufacturer, with production expected to start in 2025.

The bipolar plates will be manufactured at Feintool’s specialized facility located in Taicang, China, and are primarily intended for use in commercial vehicles, buses, and cars. This project leverages Feintool’s core technologies, including FEINforming—its patented process for high-precision metal processing—and FLEXwelding, an automated laser welding technique developed by SITEC. These advanced processes enable the production of fully integrated components that meet customer specifications.

The order for bipolar plates underscores the confidence that clients in the hydrogen sector place in both Feintool and SITEC. Bipolar plates are essential components of fuel cells, which are electrochemical energy converters that generate electricity from hydrogen and oxygen while emitting only water vapor. This technology plays a vital role in powering electric vehicles, emergency generators, and even spacecraft, providing a clean alternative to fossil fuels.
