Gujarat’s hydrogen draft policy to be completed in next two months

The Gujarat government is preparing to create a comprehensive program for producing green hydrogen in accordance with India’s ambitious goal of cutting carbon emissions by 45% by 2030.

After consultation with stakeholders and adherence to the rules of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, the draft policy is anticipated to be completed within the next two months.

Tokyo exhibition center using from Yamanashi to power its facilities

On Thursday, a significant Tokyo exhibition center started using hydrogen produced in the neighbouring Yamanashi prefecture to power some of its facilities. The use of clean energy is regarded as a crucial component of strategies for achieving carbon neutrality.

Last year, the prefecture and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government struck a contract to increase the usage of its so-called “green hydrogen.”

Since 2016, Yamanashi has been conducting tests to create the gasoline using renewable energies like solar and wind.

Drone powered by hydrogen fuel cells flies for five hours

These unmanned aerial vehicles’ flying times are being extended by a company named Hylium.
Although multirotor drones are nothing new and can be used for a variety of purposes, including as weapons of war, inspection tools for insurance adjustors, and real estate agent cameras, a firm named Hylium is attempting to extend their flying time using hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Most drones have a limited flying period and are fueled by lithium rechargeable batteries.
A drone powered by hydrogen fuel cells that was created by Hylium has now flown for up to five hours. The company is hopeful that their H2 solution would aid in overcoming the restrictions on flight time that battery-powered drones are subject to.

PDC Machines showcases hydrogen refuelling station at G7 Summit

Recent G7 political forum attendees saw the SimpleFuel all-in-one small-scale hydrogen refueling station by US-based PDC Machines.

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) launched a subsidy program to encourage the installation of hydrogen supply facilities for fuel-cell vehicles. This program has since been expanded to cover small-scale hydrogen supply facilities like PDC’s SimpleFuel.

Kareem Afzal, CEO of PDC, praised the chance to showcase its technologies at the event as the company has received orders from Japanese customers for five locations in Japan.

KfW IPEX-Bank participates in NEOM green hydrogen project funding in Saudi Arabia

KfW IPEX-Bank has announced financing for the world’s largest green hydrogen project, which is being developed in Saudi Arabia.

A significant group of 23 international and regional banks and Saudi sovereign funds are providing debt capital for about $6.1 billion of the total investment volume of about $8.4 billion. KfW IPEX-Bank is putting up $325 million.

The massive manufacturing facility is being built by NEOM Green Hydrogen Company near Oxagon in Saudi Arabia’s Neom area. After it is finished in 2026, the facility will create green ammonia on an industrial scale with an unprecedented annual production of 1.2 million tonnes using its own specialized wind and solar farms.

VTT demonstrates production of electrofuels from green hydrogen and captured carbon

A proposal for producing e-fuels by combining high temperature electrolysis, carbon capture, and Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis has been developed as part of the E-fuel research project, which is overseen by VTT.

The goal of the E-fuel research project was to develop proof-of-concept for a unique value chain for the expanding market for synthetic fuels. The study looked at the integration of renewable hydrogen produced by high temperature electrolysis, collected carbon dioxide, and hydrocarbon synthesis. The project, funded by Business Finland, is associated with the Veturi ecosystem of Neste. The development work has been carried out by a group of businesses, some of whom are involved in initiatives for unrelated industries.

Haffner Energy strengthens management team

To support its development strategy and seize new growth prospects in France and abroad in the decarbonated hydrogen, e-fuels, and sustainable aviation fuels markets, Haffner Energy has announced the creation of a new entity.

In order to improve operational excellence, consolidate Haffner Energy’s growth in Europe, and expand into new markets, particularly in the United States, the management team is changing.

With a backlog of €17.5 million as of March 31, 2023, and a game-changing technology for the production of cost-effective renewable hydrogen, Haffner Energy is well-positioned to offer a quick and widespread response to the energy shift.

Mizuho Bank joins Hydrogen Council

The Hydrogen Council, a global endeavor to enhance hydrogen’s role in the shift to clean energy and the attainment of a sustainable society, has welcomed Mizuho Bank as a member.

Leading businesses in the energy, transportation, and manufacturing sectors came together to form the Hydrogen Council in 2017. Nearly 150 businesses representing the whole hydrogen value chain are currently members of the Council.

Hydrogen is regarded by Mizuho as a viable avenue for decarbonization in numerous fields. The business has worked on a number of initiatives to encourage more societal use of hydrogen.
