Feintool creates fuel cells in collaboration with Taicang

The booming hydrogen economy in China brings Feintool a significant new client. Feintool has created a brand-new generation of fuel cells in collaboration with the fuel cell manufacturer. Taicang will begin mass manufacturing metallic bipolar plates in 2024.

Feintool has emerged as one of the first European businesses to establish a position in this very competitive industry as China aggressively advances the hydrogen economy. To create a new generation of high-performance fuel cells, the technological company has partnered with a well-known Chinese manufacturer.

Feintool will increase the high volume production of metallic bipolar plates starting in 2024. Fuel cells, which are primarily utilized in buses and commercial vehicles, are built around these. Over the following years, it is projected that this sizable order would produce revenues in the double-digit millions of Swiss Francs.

Extreme E will become Extreme H in 2025 using hydrogen

Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, and Jenson Button, three Formula One champions, own teams in the Extreme E electric off-road racing series, which will transition to hydrogen as Extreme H starting in 2025.

Alejandro Agag, the founder, said to Reuters on Thursday that a decision will be taken in the coming months but that the teams were in favor.

The first hydrogen off-road world championship will be established, according to a non-binding memorandum of agreement released last week by the Paris-based governing FIA and Extreme E.

According to that plan, Extreme H would first become a full world championship starting in 2026 and then an FIA championship in 2025.

UHL forms joint venture with Shenzhen-based producer of hydrogen generators

In order to provide exclusive global rights to market hydrogen generators worldwide, United H2 Limited (UHL) has created a joint venture with a reputable Shenzhen-based producer of hydrogen generators.

Through one of its group companies, Power Hydrogen Generation Limited (PHGL), UHL carried out the transaction. As a result, PHGL now owns 35% of the Chinese production company/manufacturing facility, generator IP, and brand PWRH2. Generators will predominantly be sold by UHL under the PWRH2 brand in Australia, the UK, Europe, and North America.

The generators will be able to support significant industrial sectors like oil and gas, mining, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, and other remote communities/sites with a power range of up to 135kW, which will increase to 1MW in the following nine to twelve months.

Angi Energy sends hydrogen dispensers for Chart Industries

Six cutting-edge hydrogen dispensers have been sent out by ANGI Energy Systems, a Vontier company, from its headquarters in Janesville, Wisconsin.

In order to provide a full, deployable fuel solution that meets current needs, Chart Industries, a global leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of process technologies and equipment for gas and liquid molecule handling for the Nexus of CleanTM — clean power, clean water, clean food, and clean industrials, including hydrogen energy — will fit the dispensers within its unique transportable fuel stations. These stations convert stored liquid hydrogen into high pressure gas.

Hydrom supports Oman’s green hydrogen potential

Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) held an in-person session in Riyadh on September 6, 2023, to harness the green hydrogen sector’s potential. The event promoted Hydrom’s crucial role in green hydrogen and the Round 2 Public Auction of green hydrogen blocks in Oman. Attended by embassy representatives from various nations interested in green hydrogen, top Saudi government officials and industry executives, and members of the press.

The Ambassador of Oman to Saudi Arabia, HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, opened the session. After his inspiring words, Eng Abdulaziz al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, gave a keynote presentation on Oman’s green hydrogen policy and Round 2 of the Public Auction’s investment potential. An lively and enlightening Q&A session followed, allowing guests to share ideas and experiences.

    EnerVenue presents new nickel-hydrogen batteries

New nickel-hydrogen batteries from US startup EnerVenue have been created for extensive storage and renewable energy applications.

According to reports, the battery has a 30-year, 30,000-cycle lifespan, and the maker offers a 20-year, 20,000-cycle warranty that ensures the battery will still have at least 88% of its capacity after that time.

According to EnerVenue, its nickel-hydrogen battery technology can function between -40 C and 60 C. Additionally, it may deliver the promised cycles at different speeds and without deterioration enabling a variety of rapid and slow charging capabilities.

Aprotium and Topsso collaborate to produce clean hydrogen

The largest hydrogen company in Korea, Aprotium (previously Deokyang), with its headquarters in Ulsan, starts a business to produce clean hydrogen from ammonia.

On the 7th, Aprotium stated that it had inked an agreement to collaborate on ammonia cracking technology and business growth with Topsso, Denmark, one of the greatest businesses in the world for hydrogen catalyst and cracking (decomposition) technology.

Aprotium will supply the process operating technology, while Topso will share the design technology required to construct an ammonia cracking plant.

Hyliko and Safra partner to industrialize hydrogen retrofit kit

In order to industrialize its retrofit kit, Hyliko, a leader in hydrogen mobility for road freight transport, recently secured a contract with Safra.

According to the terms of the contract, Hyliko will give Safra direct access to the vehicles. The conversion procedure, which entails replacing the original diesel system with a new hydrogen fuel cell powertrain, would thereafter fall under the purview of the Albigensian company and must be completed within six weeks.

The two partners announce an industrial capacity of a few dozen units annually starting in 2024, with the goal of eventually converting several hundred vehicles annually.

Fukui and ClassNK to create safety valve for use on liquefied hydrogen carrier ships

Fukui Seisakusho and the Japanese classification society ClassNK have joined forces to do joint research on the creation of a cargo tank safety valve for use on liquefied hydrogen carrier ships. According to ClassNK, the contract was signed at the Gastech 2023 trade show in Singapore.

The classification organization observes that a trustworthy and effective supply chain for “green” hydrogen from production locations to users is required as part of the energy transition and growing interest in hydrogen as a source of energy for the sector. It is required to create safety valves that take into account the characteristics of liquid hydrogen, such as its extremely low storage temperatures and ease of leakage, in order to ensure its transportation. It is also necessary to develop suitable safety standards.
