Nikola adds new chief financial officer

Thomas Okray has taken over as Nikola’s new chief financial officer (CFO), following the departure of the former one over three months ago. Nikola makes zero-emission trucks.

In November 2023, Steve Girsky, the CEO of Nikola, assumed the role of acting CFO after Anastasiya Pasterick, who had held the position for less than a year, left to join the aviation start-up Universal Hydrogen.

Due to this, Nikola was essentially left without a dedicated CFO for both its 2023 annual results, which showed a net loss of about $1 billion, and its Q4 earnings, which was the first quarter in which the company received income from its hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks. Since its founding, the company, which also produces battery-electric trucks, has incurred debts totaling $3.1 billion.

SGH2 Energy welcomes Joe Cappello to Advisory Board

SGH2 Energy has announced the addition of Joe Cappello, a seasoned expert in hydrogen technologies, to its Advisory Board. Cappello’s 35-year career in clean energy and leadership roles makes him a valuable asset to SGH2 Energy’s mission of accelerating sustainable hydrogen production.

CEO of SGH2 Energy, Robert Do, divulged his optimism about the new addition, emphasizing Cappello’s leadership in clean energy infrastructure. He relayed their shared commitment to drive a positive environmental impact.

HVS celebrates hydrogen fuel cell truck’s first trailer pull on test track

The HVS team marked a milestone in its vehicle testing and development scheme with its second test vehicle, X2.0, completing its first trailer pull using green hydrogen on the UTAC, Millbrook, high-speed track. This success displayed the hydrogen fuel cell truck’s tangible capabilities.

X2.0 is among numerous engineering prototypes being tested to focus on different facets of the vehicle design. Alongside computer-aided engineering models, real-world track data from this truck and dyno test data will be pivotal. These data will fine-tune the vehicle’s setup, calibration, and optimization of systems.

Business models for transporting hydrogen discussed at global meet in Delhi

Representatives from Austria, Chile, France, the European Commission, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, the UAE, the UK, the US, Singapore and South Korea provided updates on their nations’ hydrogen-related research, development, and policy efforts. They discussed matters pertaining to hydrogen’s supply and demand, infrastructure development, and workforce upskilling.
