GAIL to launch its first green hydrogen project in India by April

GAIL (India), which controls India’s massive natural gas infrastructure for transmission, marketing, and distribution, would launch its first green hydrogen project in central India by April. India’s clean energy goals have advanced with this development.

The project is in Madhya Pradesh’s Vijaipur complex. An imported 10-megawatt Canadian proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser will produce green hydrogen. Renewable electricity powers PEM electrolysis, which divides water into hydrogen and oxygen.

Around 4.3 metric tons of hydrogen of 99.999% purity will be produced daily by the new facility. Commissioning is expected in April, according to project sources.

Solvay halts Arizona hydrogen peroxide facility

The construction of a high-grade hydrogen peroxide factory close to Arizona’s expanding semiconductor industry has been put on hold by Solvay. The company intends to start development in 2023 after purchasing a 100,000 m2 property midway between Tuscon and Phoenix in 2022. Thirty full-time employment would have been supported by the factory. According to a statement from Solvay, the action is a result of market dynamics for semiconductor manufacturing and the status of federal subsidies at the moment.

Air Liquide designs and installs hydrogen station on Place de l’Alma

As the official hydrogen partner of Paris 2024, Air Liquide created and set up a hydrogen station as a “showcase for the network of stations deployed in the Ile-de-France region” in the Place de l’Alma in the city’s heart.

The official Paris 2024 fleet, which consists of 500 Toyota Mirai hydrogen-powered vehicles, will be supplied with hydrogen from renewable sources by the industrial gas firm, which will replenish the station.

Hydrogen valleys summit coming to Poznan

Hydrogen valleys are large-scale initiatives aimed at condensing all aspects of hydrogen production, storage, transport, and end-use in a single location. The European Commission holds these initiatives at high importance, as exhibited by a €200 million allocation from the REPowerEU program – a complement to the funds available via the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. By 2023, Europe will host 65 such valleys.

Poznań is set to host the H2 Valleys Summit on April 24, as part of the H2Poland & NetZero Forum. Organized by Wielkopolskie Voivodeship and Hydrogen Europe, the summit aims to bring leaders across industry, decision-making, and research to bolster knowledge and support for the Hydrogen Valleys concept.
