LAVO Hydrogen Technology Limited is developing the LAVO HESS (Hydrogen Energy Storage Device), which it says is a “groundbreaking” energy storage system for powering homes and businesses. This next-generation energy system combines rooftop solar systems with the world’s first integrated hybrid hydrogen battery to provide durable and dependable electricity.
According to the manufacturer, this technology functions as a “solar sponge,” capturing renewable energy by merging with solar panels. Water is used to create hydrogen, which is then stored in the system’s unique metal hydride. It has a 40 kWh capacity and can store enough solar energy to run an average home for two days. The system was also created to be long-lasting and capable of operating in harsh environments. It may also be managed and tracked via a specialized app.
The fuel cells for this hybrid energy storage system will be manufactured in a future plant in Queensland. In designing this revolutionary energy solution, LAVO collaborated with the University of Queensland.
