The Sustainable Development Council met in St. Petersburg under the leadership of Oleg Aksyutin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee–Head of Department at Gazprom and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and Nikolai Kasimov, RAS Member.
The meeting covered completed and upcoming cooperation studies in the realm of hydrogen energy by Gazprom and the RAS. The research aim to address scientific issues in the field of hydrogen production in the most ecologically friendly and cost-effective manner possible, namely through hydrogen generation from natural gas, as well as challenges associated with hydrogen transportation. The collaborative study’ findings will also be incorporated into Gazprom’s sustainable development projections through 2050.
The Sustainable Development Council emphasized natural gas’ critical significance and enormous potential in the development of low-carbon hydrogen energy. Professor Valentin Parmon, Vice President and Member of the RAS, and Professor Anton Maximov, Corresponding Member of the RAS, both presented presentations at the meeting.
