GE’s Grid Solutions division, a vital component of GE Vernova’s energy business portfolio, has secured a significant contract from Larsen & Toubro to provide 380 kV gas-insulated substations (GIS) for the construction of the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility.

This ambitious undertaking will be situated within Oxagon, the forthcoming smart city in Neom, northwestern Saudi Arabia.

The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) aims to utilize solely wind and solar power to generate carbon-free hydrogen at the facility, with a projected output of up to 600 tons per day by the end of 2026.

GE will assume responsibility for the design, manufacturing, supply, and supervision of installation and commissioning for the 92 GIS arrays that will empower the hydrogen plant.
