Greenzo Energy India (GEIL) has teamed up with France’s Energy Observer Developments (EODev) to introduce hydrogen fuel cell power units to the Indian market.
This partnership enables GEIL to sell EODev’s eco-friendly hydrogen generators, provide maintenance, and produce alkaline electrolysers. A 20-year collaboration allows GEIL the possibility to assemble EODev products locally.
Sandeep Agarwal, GEIL’s Founder and Managing Director, highlighted the goal of deploying Toyota’s hydrogen generator technology in South Asia. These hydrogen fuel cell generators convert hydrogen’s chemical energy into water and electricity, offering a clean alternative to traditional diesel-powered units used in various sectors like data centers and telecom infrastructure.
India’s hydrogen generator market is set to expand significantly as sectors move away from diesel reliance. Valued at an estimated $20 million soon, the demand is driven by infrastructure such as data centers and telecom towers, which use almost 8 million diesel generators in the telecom sector.
The Indian government is pushing for a shift from diesel generators to hydrogen-powered alternatives, with businesses urged to address environmental concerns. Companies are slated to invest around ₹200 crore initially, with potential growth to ₹1,000 crore within two years.
