The German government has committed at least 112 million euros to help Kenya achieve its 2030 objective of using only renewable energy sources. This was announced by the BMZ, the ministry of economic cooperation and development.
The “Climate and Development Partnership” will prioritize enhancing hydrogen production, the power infrastructure, and renewable energy sources. Regenerative sources provide for 90% of its total power generation. Germany wants to help Kenya build a sustainable hydrogen economy.
During the COP27 climate conference, Germany committed to helping Kenya completely switch to renewable energy. The nation now intends to finalize the specifics in order to assist Kenya with the required technological advancements as well as to promote public acceptance of the energy transition.
