By 2035, Gujarat, an Indian state, wants to have installed a manufacturing capacity for green hydrogen of about 8 mtpa.
“Gujarat plans to build an estimated 8 mtpa production capacity in the next 10–12 years, with the goal of making it the global hub for green hydrogen. According to state industries minister Balwantsinh Rajput, it will speed up the transition to green manufacturing in the energy-intensive industries of fertilizers, steel, chemicals, and petroleum.
As of December 31, 2022, Gujarat had installed a total of 9.86 GW of wind capacity and 8.5 GW of solar capacity. The largest hybrid renewable energy park in the world, with a capacity of 30 GW, will be located in Kutch. This park will cover an area larger than Bahrain or Singapore at 72,600 hectares. Given Gujarat’s emphasis on greening industrial production, the state’s enormous renewable energy resources provide a compelling commercial rationale for green hydrogen production.
Gujarat has enough land, according to the minister, to sustain the generation of solar and green energy, green hydrogen, and ammonium.
