HPQ Silicon, together with its French subsidiary NOVACIUM SAS and Malaysian aluminium recycler GLD Alloys, has formalized a strategic partnership to accelerate the commercialization of green hydrogen production.
At the core of this collaboration lies METAGENE Novacium’s proprietary green hydrogen production technology, which is poised to leverage GLD’s expertise in low-carbon recycled aluminium production.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between these entities does not bind them financially but sets the stage for potentially significant advancements in sustainable energy. With GLD’s capacity to produce 200,000 tonnes per year of recycled aluminium, this partnership could enable a rapid scale-up of METAGENE fuel production capabilities, which could be instrumental in advancing the industrial-scale application of green hydrogen solutions.
Key to METAGENE’s potential is its efficiency: releasing 1.25 cubic meters of hydrogen per kilogram of fuel, boasting yields between 90% and 100%. Unlike many traditional hydrogen generation processes, METAGENE operates autonomously, freeing it from dependency on external electricity sources, cumbersome storage solutions, or expansive infrastructure. These attributes make it an attractive candidate for widespread adoption across various sectors, potentially marking a turning point in green hydrogen’s feasibility as a mainstream energy source.
Dr. Jed Kraiem, COO of Novacium, characterizes the METAGENE initiative as an energy revolution. By utilizing recycled aluminium supplied by GLD, the process not only lowers carbon emissions but also aligns with the rising ethical investment trends prioritizing environmental sustainability.
