The Investments in Forest Industry Transformation initiative will award HTEC $10 million for a renewable hydrogen generation facility at the Harmac Pacific Pulp Mill.
The electrolysis-based clean hydrogen production process employed by HTEC’s project at Harmac Pacific will enable the mill to reduce its carbon footprint by using the hydrogen as a clean fuel for heating and transportation.
An illustration of how extra mill energy can be used to reduce emissions and accomplish national and provincial clean hydrogen goals is the HTEC project with Harmac Pacific. Projects supported by IFIT are intended to further diversify the forest industry, improve its sustainability, and further the development of the Canadian economy through high-value bioproducts.
