A $182 million clean ‘Hunter Super Hydrogen Hub,’ which will be presented on Thursday, will create over 2500 employment.

Angus Taylor, the Federal Energy Minister, will announce $41 million for the Hydrogen Hub at the Port of Newcastle, which has a total project value of $163 million.

Origin Energy Future Fuels Pty Ltd’s Hunter Valley H2 Hub implementation project, which has a total project value of over $200 million, has received another $41 million.

The government forecasts that when the hub projects are completed, they will produce more than 2,300 employees, with more local construction opportunities possible as a result of the port renovations.

Aurizon Operations Ltd, Idemitsu Renewable Developments Australia, Infrabuild, Jemena Gas Networks, Keolis Downer Hunter, Lake Macquarie City Council, Macquarie Agricultural Funds Management, and Macquarie Corporate Holdings are among the project partners for the Port of Newcastle hydrogen hub.

“Both of these hub initiatives are supported by considerable private sector investment and have strong industry partners both domestically and internationally.” “These multi-million-dollar agreements demonstrate Hunter’s value to both business and government,” Mr. Taylor said.

“The Hunter is a highly competitive site for a clean hydrogen hub, with current supply chains to important consuming nations such as Japan and significant potential local hydrogen demand for purposes such as power production, gas blending, and transportation.”

According to the government, national clean hydrogen exports might sustain 16,000 employment directly by 2050, with another 13,000 jobs in renewable energy infrastructure building. By 2050, clean hydrogen generation for export and domestic usage may add more than $50 billion to the economy.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated that the government’s strategy will create jobs for future generations.

“Australia will lead the world in hydrogen development and exports, and the Hunter area is key to realizing our country’s promise.” For decades, the Hunter has been an important component of Australia’s energy security, and our investment today ensures Hunter’s clean energy future,” he added.

“The Coalition’s economic strategy is providing new possibilities for the Hunter’s local, highly qualified workforce, resulting in a stronger economy and future.”

“Affordable and dependable energy is critical to the Coalition’s national economic agenda, as is reaching our carbon reduction commitments.”

James Thomson, the Nationals’ Hunter candidate, said the hydrogen hubs will keep the Hunter moving ahead.

“These critical local initiatives will provide the economic groundwork for the Hunter to prosper for many years to come.” They provide our children and grandchildren greater chances to get their ideal career and stay in the Hunter.”
