The government has resolved to encourage the commercialization of hydrogen turbines based on the knowledge gained during the development of gas turbine technology and to release a “hydrogen and ammonia power generation roadmap” in the first half of this year.

Minister Moon Seung-wook attended a ceremony on the 5th to commemorate the installation of a Korean-style gas turbine at the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant in Gimpo Western Power, Gyeonggi Province, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.

From January 2020 to November 2018, the gas turbine erected on this day underwent a performance demonstration procedure without being linked to the electric power system, and from July 2019 to July 2025, it is connected to the electric power system and generated genuine power generation. take a step It’s the first time a household turbine has been used in a power plant.

In the materials, components, and equipment business, the gas turbine industry is known as the “flower of the equipment field,” yet until recently, all 161 gas turbines for power generation delivered to Korea were made using foreign goods.

In order to safeguard Korean technology in the gas turbine sector, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy began developing gas turbine technology for power generation in collaboration with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction in 2013.

“Strengthening our industry’s competitiveness, not regulation, should be essential to responding to climate change and achieving carbon neutrality,” Minister Moon said. In terms of energy security, it’s also a critical duty.” He also urged the public to take advantage of the chance to gain valuable expertise by collaborating actively with the public and commercial sectors in the future demonstration process.
