Hydrogen plants in Batangas start production

The commissioning of the nitrogen and hydrogen production facilities at the JG Summit Olefins Corp. industrial facility in Batangas City was announced by Linde Philippines.

The facilities will fulfill JGSOC’s need for industrial gas for the development of its naphtha cracker facility. The new facilities attracted a $10 million investment from Linde.

According to Raymond Santayana, president of Linde Philippines, “The technology and solutions that Linde can provide, our skilled staff, and local infrastructure enable us to assist some of the largest projects in the nation.”

Installation of an Ecogan Nitrogen Generator, the newest model in Linde’s line of portable on-site nitrogen plants, is part of the project. It has an innovative, energy-efficient design.

In addition, Linde set up a pressure swing adsorption facility for recovering and cleaning naphtha cracker waste hydrogen.

The naphtha cracker complex will be fed with nitrogen, while the polyethylene and polypropylene units at JG Summit will receive both nitrogen and hydrogen.

The sole integrated producer of polyethylene and polypropylene resin in the Philippines is JGSOC. The downstream PE and PP polymerization facilities use feedstock from the naphtha cracker, which is used primarily to generate polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene, to make PE and PP resin, which is then supplied steadily to the regional plastics sector.

The leading global manufacturer of technical and industrial gases is Linde. In the Philippines, Linde supplies the petrochemical, semiconductor, manufacturing, fabrication, food, and healthcare industries through a vast nationwide network of gas production plants, distribution centers, and sales centers.

For more than 20 years, Linde has provided industrial gases to the JG Summit petrochemical complex; the opening of the new plant ushers in the partnership’s next stage.

According to Patrick Go, president, and CEO of JGSOC, they partnered with Linde for the expansion project because of their creative process solutions and steadfast history of delivering high-quality services that meet international standards.

Go declared, “We are pleased to have collaborated with them over the years and we look forward to continuing this successful cooperation.
